Claiming prizes

When we detect that you win a prize, we notify you.

All winning tickets under $600 per play may be claimed at any participating SuperLotto Plus retailer participating in cashing or from the California Lottery. Trillonario.com will redeem your ticket and we will either credit it to your subscription or send you your winnings. We will typically have your winnings within 2 or 3 days after the draw date.

Winning tickets of $600 or more per play may only be claimed directly from the California Lottery. To claim a prize over $600 you must submit a claim form and the original ticket to the California Lottery. We will send you the forms and assist you in submitting your tickets to the California Lottery.

If you win the jackpot you must appear in person at the California Lottery headquarters. We will make arrangements to personally hand you the ticket before you go.

All winning tickets must be claimed within 180 days from the draw date printed on the ticket.

Payment options

SuperLOTTO Plus jackpots are paid in 26 annual installments but a winner has the opportunity to choose the Cash Value of their jackpot prize within 60 days of the Lottery's payment approval date.

Cash option

If you select the Cash Option, you will receive an amount equal to the net proceeds of the sale of bonds purchased to fund the 26 annual payments for that prize. This will be a single lump sum payment and is estimated at 45% to 55% of the jackpot amount.

Annual payments

If you choose the annual payments option, you'll receive the SuperLotto Plus jackpot in 26 graduated annual payments.

For example, if the announced jackpot is $7 million, and you choose the annual payment option, you would receive $175,000 as the first payment (2.5% of jackpot amount). But, over the course of the next 25 years, these payments would gradually increase each year until the final payment of $357,000 - a 100% increase over the first payment!

Taxes

There is no California state tax on Lottery winnings. If you choose "Cash Value," the California Lottery will withhold federal tax from your winnings at the rate of 25% for US citizens and 30% for all others. If you choose the "Annual Payment" option you will be responsible for paying federal tax on an annual basis and the rate will vary year to year.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to play the California SuperLotto Plus or to receive a prize. It is not necessary to be a US citizen or resident to play the lottery.
