Lotto Texas drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday evening at 10:12 p.m. Central Time.

Claiming prizes

When we detect that you win a prize, we notify you.

All winning tickets under $600 per play may be claimed at any participating Lottery Texas retailer participating in cashing. Trillonario.com will redeem your ticket and we will either credit it to your subscription or send you your winnings. We will typically have your winnings within 2 or 3 days after the draw date.

Winning tickets of $600 or more per play may only be claimed directly from the Texas Lottery Commission. To claim a prize over $600 you must submit a claim form and the original ticket to the Texas Lottery Commission. We will send you the forms and assist you in submitting your tickets to the Texas Lottery Commission.

If you win the jackpot you must appear in person at the Texas Lottery Commission Headquarters in Austin, Texas. We will make arrangements to personally hand you the ticket before you go.

Tickets must be claimed no later than 180 days after the draw date.

Payment options

When you play the Lotto Texas, you must select how you want to be paid if you win the jackpot prize. “25 Annual Payments": if you want to receive your prize in 25 annual installments. "Cash Value Option": if you want to receive a single payment of the present cash value of the jackpot prize. If you make no selection, the "25 Annual Payments" option will apply to your ticket. You may not later change the payment option.

Taxes

U.S. citizens and resident aliens’ players who win prizes over $5,000 will get a tax rate of 25 percent. While there is no withholding on lottery prizes of less than $5,000, unless paid in installments or to a nonresident alien individual, winnings are still subject to income tax. For winners who are not U.S. citizens or resident aliens, the Texas Lottery withholds 30 percent on prizes of $600 or more.
